The court order (a copy of which is with Storyboard18) directs multiple internet service providers (ISPs), domain name registrars (DNRs), and government departments to take coordinated real-time action against infringing platforms.
The legal breakthrough comes amid JioStar’s ongoing battle against platforms like IPTV Smarters that illegally streamed marquee events and other sports content.
This legal relief will remain effective until July 3, 2025, allowing Star India to block newly identified contravening platforms without the constant need of approaching the court for each instance.
Storyboard18 had first reported that acting on a complaint from Star India, have arrested an alleged kingpin behind an illicit Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service that attracted roughly five million subscribers
IPTV service “BOS” allegedly reached 5 million subscribers, siphoning premium TV—including Pakistani news and soap operas—before cyber-crime investigators traced the streams and arrested its Jalandhar-based operator.
The suspects are allegedly also part of an international piracy syndicate that streamed banned Pakistani channels through their website.
