Amazon enters India's q-comm race with 'Tez' delivery service

E-commerce giant prepares to launch ultra-fast grocery and essentials delivery by year-end, aiming to compete with Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart.

Focused on delivering groceries and daily essentials, Amazon is preparing to build the necessary infrastructure for ultra-fast deliveries, including setting up dark stores and finalizing stock-keeping units (SKUs).

Amazon is set to make its move into the rapidly growing quick commerce space in India with thw anticipated launch of its delivery service, as per recent reports.

With the quick commerce sector valued at $5.5-6 billion, Amazon is accelerating its entry, initially targeting a launch timeline that was set for the first quarter of 2025.

This move will mark Amazon's global debut in the quick commerce sector, making it the last makor e-commerce player to dive into this booming market, which is currently dominated by companies like Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart.

Focused on delivering groceries and daily essentials, Amazon is preparing to build the necessary infrastructure for ultra-fast deliveries, including setting up dark stores and finalizing stock-keeping units (SKUs).

Logistics and supply chain enhancements are also key to meeting the swift delivery demands of consumers. Reports indicate that the final launch date may be confirmed during a December review meeting, ahead of the company's annual Smbhav event scheduled for December 9-10.

To support the ambitious project, Amazon has been recruiting talent specifically for Tez, with its India Grocery and Everyday Essentials team actively building the service's core.

The e-commerce giant is leveraging its vast delivery network and existing partnerships with logistics providers to ensure it can meet the expectations of India's growing quick commerce market.
