Neerja Sekhar IAS (Haryana 1993) is currently serving as the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB).

MIB elevates Neerja Sekhar to the rank of Special Secretary
In 2020, the 1993-batch senior IAS (Haryana), Neerja Sekhar replaced IAS Atul Kumar Tiwari as the Additional Secretary, MIB.

Neerja Sekhar, the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has been promoted to the rank of Special Secretary of MIB.

Sekhar is a member of the Prasar Bharati board.

In her new role, Sekhar has a high degree of responsibility and independence in managing the business of her wing.

It is to be noted that Special Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, and Joint Secretaries have the maximum measure of responsibility concerning the business.

Her appointment comes at a time when the Ministry is reviewing major policies and bills.

The Ministry has recently sought comments from stakeholders for both National Broadcasting Policy 2024 and Broadcasting Services Regulation Bill, 2023.

In 2020, the 1993-batch senior IAS (Haryana), Sekhar replaced IAS Atul Kumar Tiwari as the Additional Secretary, MIB.

Before that, she held the position of Joint Secretary in the MIB.
