Plog Run is PepsiCo India's flagship annual event aimed at promoting environmental stewardship and building a circular economy for plastic. Aligned with the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission, this initiative focuses on collecting and recycling plastic waste to prevent it from ending up in landfills. The event brings together employees, volunteers, and partners like Varun Beverages Limited, CultFit, Decathlon, Gatorade, Quaker, and The Wine Company to raise awareness about post-consumer plastic waste management.

In 2023, Plog Run spanned eight cities, engaging over 1,000 participants who plogged 30 kilometers collectively. For the upcoming 2024 edition, PepsiCo aims to expand the event, involving 3,000 participants in major cities, while continuing to educate communities on responsible waste management practices.

PepsiCo has been doubling down on its initiatives in areas of sustainability and inclusive growth, aiming for grass-root level changes in addition to active participation across the value chain with stakeholders and consumers.

Project Farm Equal Initiative:

For generations, dedicated hands have tended to potato crops, bringing smiles to millions. Acknowledging the specific challenges faced by women in agriculture, "Project Farm Equal" adopts a comprehensive approach to empower them. This includes creating tools designed with women in mind, enhancing both their efficiency and comfort.

The project honours the significant contributions of women farmers, many of whom have not only provided unwavering support but have also taken on leadership roles in farm management. Project Farm Equal celebrates their resilience and serves as a driving force for further empowerment.

PepsiCo India collaborates with over 27,000 farmers across 14 states, including 2,500 women farmers, as part of its commitment to sustainable agriculture under the "Positive Agriculture" pillar of its pep+ initiative. This approach focuses on empowering farmers, optimizing water use, and improving livelihoods. PepsiCo’s efforts in Uttar Pradesh, a key sourcing region, include the development of resilient and inclusive supply chains to support its ambitious growth and sustainability goals.

The initiative specifically addresses the challenges faced by women farmers. It provides them with customized tools for greater efficiency, legal and financial training, and support in accessing government programs. The project aims to enhance women’s roles in agriculture, helping them make informed decisions and take on leadership positions within their communities.

This year the company has also collaborated with the Department of Posts to release a set of customized stamps. These stamps, featuring a woman farmer, symbolize the crucial contributions of women in agriculture and PepsiCo’s ongoing efforts to foster a more inclusive and sustainable farming ecosystem.
