Prasar Bharati is inviting feature film proposals for sourcing from already produced feature films on license fee/royalty by the pubcaster for its digital and linear platforms

Prasar Bharati is sourcing approximately 50 feature films as per the requirement of launch of OTT platform and weekly drop till the end of the current financial year.

Prasar Bharati has invited applications from rights owner company/ partnership firms/proprietary firm/producer for sourcing of the feature films on license fee/royalty, for its digital and linear platforms.

The pubcaster issued the notice on September 24 and the last date of submission of applications is October 20.

Prasar Bharati is sourcing approximately 50 feature films as per the requirement of launch of OTT platform and weekly drop till the end of the current financial year.

The telecast/streaming schedule and platform will be decided after the completion of sourcing process based on the category, period and territory of rights acquired of the feature films for different platforms.

The applications will be processed on a 'first-come, first-serve basis' from the date of notification in accordance with the content requirements of Prasar Bharati and the merit of the proposals as per Content Sourcing Policy.

All the applications will be processed as per the guidelines mentioned in its recently released Content Sourcing Policy -2024, which was notified on August 9.

As per Prasar Bharati, conditions for these feature films include that these are ready-made or already produced, and should not be older than 5 years and feature films which have not yet premiered or showcased on any other digital platform (in case of exclusive digital rights) or television network (in case of exclusive TV Rights).

Also, feature films with U or U/A CBFC Certificate in Case of Satellite Rights (in case of digital rights feature films without CBFC Certificate can also apply but will only be cleared after detailed preview), it said.

These films must also comply with the Programme Code of Prasar Bharati, or any other guidelines, orders, or codes as specified by the government or any other regulatory body with respect to content streamed by Prasar Bharati.

The rights owner company/ partnership firms/proprietary firm/producer must not be blacklisted or suspended by any government body or authority.

Prasar Bharati reserves the right to suspend or cancel the agreement in case of violation of the terms of the agreement in future and also reserves the right to review the selection process/terms and conditions during the agreement period by giving one month notice irrespective of number of films sourced.

The proposal may be considered for the final acquisition of a feature film from rights owner if they accept the price offered by the Costing Committee during the costing negotiations, otherwise may be rejected, the circular said.
