ITC's COO Sanjay Singhal joins Wagh Bakri Tea Group as CEO

During his stint at ITC, Sanjay Singhal looked into all aspects of the dairy and beverages business.

Sanjay Singhal, who led ITC as chief operating officer, has joined Wagh Bakri Tea Group as the chief executive officer. During his stint at ITC, Singhal looked into all aspects of the dairy and beverages business.

As he made the announcement on August 15, he stated, "On the auspicious occasion of our 78th Independence Day…happy to announce my new home.. a 132 year young, proudly Indian brand in a proudly Indian category… the Father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhiji personally inspired the promoters to move back from South Africa to start the business…always for Indian consumer and brands…."

Singhal began his career at Lakme Lever and went on to work across Hindustan Unilever, Yum! Restaurants International, GE Capital, Aditya Birla Capital and Dabur India Limited.

As the chief marketing officer at Aditya Birla Group, he was responsible for the marketing and public relations of Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund.

As the marketing head - foods at Dabur India, Singhal took P&L responsibility for the approx. Rs 2000 Crore (320 Mn$) Foods business.

He was responsible for brands like Real (dominant leader in a market with players like Pepsi & Coke), Hajmola & Honey.

He was responsible additionally for process improvements in the Marketing function. Involved in M&A discussions and Regulatory affairs. He earlier handled the Skin Care business for Dabur India Limited.
