Diageo India appoints Ruchira Jaitly as the chief marketing officer

Ruchira Jaitly takes over as CMO at a time when Diageo India has accelerated its innovation and premiumization strategies with a focus on sustainability.

Ruchira Jaitly has over 23 years of experience in Strategy, Sales, Marketing, Innovation, Business, Start-Up, Impact Business Creation and in Market Consumer & Customer Engagement at Unilever, PepsiCo, Royal DSM, HMD Global (Home of Nokia Phones).

Ruchira Jaitly will take over as the chief marketing officer of liquor major DIAGEO India effective August 1.

Jaitly, who is currently EVP marketing - Diageo India, started her career with Unilever, as a management trainee who worked in Sales in the challenging areas of Western UP and Rajasthan for Personal Care Products, and then growing into Brand Activation and Brand Strategy and Innovation roles in the Hair Care category.

Like her predecessor at Diageo, Deepika Warrier, Jaitly is also a PepsiCo hand, where she built some of the biggest brands for PepsiCo in India, like Kurkure and Mountain Dew. She was responsible for creating scale award-winning consumer campaigns (Crash the Pepsi IPL, Kurkure launch and Lay’s Flavor World Cup) and harnessing India energies for innovations (Nimbooz Masala Soda and Lays and Kurkure formats and flavors) and leveraging global playbooks to bring alive brands from Pepsi, 7UP, Mountain Dew and Mirinda to Lays and Cheetos.

As senior director marketing for PepsiCo Beverages, she managed the entire portfolio of Bev brands and also delivered Pepsi IPL, the biggest consumer and customer activation for Pepsi ever, in India and in the Middle East (2014).

She has over 23 years of experience in Strategy, Sales, Marketing, Innovation, Business, Start-Up, Impact Business Creation and in Market Consumer & Customer Engagement at Unilever, PepsiCo, Royal DSM, HMD Global (Home of Nokia Phones).

Jaitly takes over as CMO at a time when the alcohol beverage maker has accelerated its innovation and premiumization strategies with a focus on sustainability as the industry leverages post-pandemic shifts in consumer behavior like drinking less, but drinking better.
